Pacific Island Playlist 5: Mental Health.

From #SMACC2019, the incredible Jess Morton speaks candidly about her own mental health journey.

Jess knows first-hand how important it is that we give mental health the focus it deserves.

Eliminating the stigma that surrounds mental health starts with us as healthcare professionals.

We need to lead the way.

Jess Morton

After nursing for almost 10 years, Jess has gone back to the books to complete a Bachelor of Paramedic Science at Edith Cowan University. Jess acted in the role of the Community Engagement  Executive for Student Paramedics Australasia, before being elected to the position of Co-Chair for 2015. Jess has been involved in both the organisation and the social media campaigns of several prehospital and student conferences across Australia. She was a student volunteer at smaccGOLD and then was thrilled to be part of the smaccJunior team in Chicago for SmaccUS.

Jess writes a blog titled “Textbooks, Tears & Trauma” for the PrehospitalResearch.eu website.

She was part of the National Advisory team for Change Day Australia in 2015 and is passionate about creating change in healthcare and contributing to innovative projects to enable these changes. Jess is passionate about using FOAMed to both learn and connect with others.

When she has spare time, she enjoys thick thick shakes and a box of smarties. 🙂
