This talk will introduce the audience to the dynamics and effects of childhood abuse from a human rights framework.

It will explore pertinent aspects of recovery and illuminate the healing possibilities that exist within every relationship between a child and any adult professional.

 

Mary-Jo McVeigh

Mary-Jo McVeigh is the founding CEO of Cara House a healing centre for children and young people who have experienced abuse. She completed her Honours degree in social science in 1983 and a master’s degree in Social Work in 1986. She is currently a PhD student at the university of Sydney. Mary-Jo is a recognised expert in the field of child protection and trauma. She is a trained trauma therapist and an accredited mental health social worker. She is a passionate activist for children’s rights.
