ICC SYDNEY: 17 – 18 February 2021

CODAZERO LIVE

An exciting hybrid event comprising both a LIVE and virtual audience

We have been waiting to announce this moment for what has seemed an eternity – Coda is back!

Given the incredible work of the public, governments and public health, there has been an easing of the Covid-Safe restrictions in NSW. Following on from our CodaZero episodes earlier this year, we are excited to announce we have put together an inspiring in-person medical education event.

Hosted in a purpose designed hybrid space at the International Convention Centre Sydney, delegates lucky enough to score one of the very limited in-person registrations will be treated to up to 2 full days of exceptionally high quality learning. The education will be CPD accredited and each session is being carefully constructed to address multiple core domains of our professional practice.

For those who can’t attend in person, there will be option to attend virtually. As always, in the spirit of FOAMed, we will be releasing the content from the events via podcasts and vodcasts throughout the year.

In addition to CodaZero on Thursday, 18 February, we are also hosting a series of Covid-Safe workshops for delegates on Wednesday, 17 February. These workshops will cater to a range of interdisciplinary and inter-professional practices, again all being designed around core areas for professional development.

CODA CURE – PANDEMIC SEPSIS

Date: 5th August 2020 @ 8am AEST (1 hour)

Design lead: SIMON FINFER

WATCH THE FULL EPISODE

In mid 2017 the World Health Assembly identified Sepsis as a global health priority. Sepsis is “a life-threatening organ dysfunction caused by a dysregulated host response to infection.” The Covid19 Pandemic has catapulted many of the challenges facing the management of global sepsis into the spotlight. What have we learnt and what actions do we need to take?

In this session we will cover Sepsis and Vaccination through the COVID lens. A clear threat to global health, the burden of Sepsis and Anti-Microbial Resistance (AMR) is Coda’s first priority in taking action under our “Cure” advocacy pillar. The Coda Zero virtual event designed around Sepsis and Vaccination provides a seamless opportunity to connect and commence this advocacy agenda immediately.

CODA ETHICS – GENDER

Date: 5th August 2020 @ 10am AEST (1 hour)

Design leads: CHRISTINE BOWLES & DOUG LYNCH

WATCH THE FULL EPISODE HERE

Gender inequity within healthcare not only affects us all as a profession, but it also affects our patients.

Importantly, the definition of gender is not simply binary…

Gender equality is a human right, but despite many years of active campaigning there remain many less female researchers in science than men, they produce fewer scientific papers and are less likely to be part of international collaborations. There are many factors that contribute to this inequality bias, organisational culture and differential demands of work and family. This leads to differences in salaries (gender pay gap) and leadership opportunities.

Gender diverse organisations have potential for increased productivity, innovation and creativity with a better understanding of patient populations and further potential for improved outcomes.

The COVID-19 pandemic has exposed many of these fragile issues within healthcare which remain barely concealed within our profession. In this first edition of CodaEthics we bring together the best from within our community and from outside to address.

CODA EARTH - A SAFE AND HEALTHY PANDEMIC RECOVERY

Date: 14 October 2020 @ 10am-11.30am AEDT

THE FULL EPISODE: COMING SOON

The global COVID-19 pandemic has changed the way we live. As the world recovers, there is an incredible opportunity to rethink how we rebuild. There is no question that global temperatures are rising, and that the consequences of that affect both ourselves in healthcare, and also the wellbeing of our patients. Whether it be by the effects of drought or floods on supplies of food and water, the quality of the air we breathe and its effect on respiratory disease, or the spread of infection we know, we must take urgent action.
