VIRTUAL PROGRAM

WHAT IS CODAZERO?

The pandemic has changed all our plans and the immediate future is uncertain, but the Coda community is agile. Instead of retreating to wait and see what the future holds, we pivot and quickly move forward…… Cue CodaZero.

The bold agenda for the Coda program was to begin Day 1 of our planned September 2020 event in Melbourne, but given the postponement, why wait? Why not seize the postponement as an opportunity to launch the program early? – Day Zero.

CodaZero is blazing the trail to the main Coda event, laying the foundations for further learning that will occur on Day 1 of the conference program.

Just as the main Coda event program has been designed around the four pillars of our action agenda, the CodaZero events will be a series of virtual events highlighting these same critical issues facing our healthcare community: Ethics, Cure, Earth & Educate.

HOW DOES THE LIVE STREAM WORK?

Best of all, the CodaZero events will be filmed in a studio and live-streamed on a dedicated streaming platform, which simultaneously integrates the live video stream with online chat and social feeds. So finally, for the first time in this new era of physical distancing, our community can come together, share engaging learning opportunities, and at the same time interact with both each other and the faculty in real-time.

Of course, CodaZero events will be CPD accredited – 4 sessions equal to attending a half-day conference, all from the comfort of your own space. Every CodaZero attendee will be offered a ticket to the highly anticipated Coda 2021 event in Melbourne. Plus, by attending all 4 sessions in series 1, you will automatically go in the draw to win a FREE ticket.

In the spirit of FOAMed, and as we have done previously with SMACC, we will be releasing the content from the CodaZero events via podcasts, throughout the year.

WHY ATTEND VIRTUALLY?

  • This is a huge issue facing healthcare globally, and we want to hear your voice – the future of humanity needs your leadership.
  • As a virtual attendee, your voice will be heard- address the panel, ask questions, chat with peers from all over the world.
  • This is an exceptional panel of our very best presenters and speakers.
  • Coda will always find ways to engage and excite your thinking while earning CPD points.
  • The live registration numbers are strictly limited so that you can be sure to participate.
  • Attend all 4 sessions and go in the draw to win a free ticket to Coda 2021 in Melbourne.

Episode 1

CODA CURE – PANDEMIC SEPSIS

Date: 5th August 2020 @ 8am AEST (1 hour)

Design lead: SIMON FINFER

WATCH THE FULL EPISODE

In mid 2017 the World Health Assembly identified Sepsis as a global health priority. Sepsis is “a life-threatening organ dysfunction caused by a dysregulated host response to infection.” The Covid19 Pandemic has catapulted many of the challenges facing the management of global sepsis into the spotlight. What have we learnt and what actions do we need to take?

In this session we will cover Sepsis and Vaccination through the COVID lens. A clear threat to global health, the burden of Sepsis and Anti-Microbial Resistance (AMR) is Coda’s first priority in taking action under our “Cure” advocacy pillar. The Coda Zero virtual event designed around Sepsis and Vaccination provides a seamless opportunity to connect and commence this advocacy agenda immediately.

CODA ETHICS – GENDER

Date: 5th August 2020 @ 10am AEST (1 hour)

Design leads: CHRISTINE BOWLES & DOUG LYNCH

WATCH THE FULL EPISODE HERE

Gender inequity within healthcare not only affects us all as a profession, but it also affects our patients.

Importantly, the definition of gender is not simply binary…

Gender equality is a human right, but despite many years of active campaigning there remain many less female researchers in science than men, they produce fewer scientific papers and are less likely to be part of international collaborations. There are many factors that contribute to this inequality bias, organisational culture and differential demands of work and family. This leads to differences in salaries (gender pay gap) and leadership opportunities.

Gender diverse organisations have potential for increased productivity, innovation and creativity with a better understanding of patient populations and further potential for improved outcomes.

The COVID-19 pandemic has exposed many of these fragile issues within healthcare which remain barely concealed within our profession. In this first edition of CodaEthics we bring together the best from within our community and from outside to address.

CODA EARTH - A SAFE AND HEALTHY PANDEMIC RECOVERY

Date: 14 October 2020 @ 10am-11.30am AEDT

THE FULL EPISODE: COMING SOON

The global COVID-19 pandemic has changed the way we live. As the world recovers, there is an incredible opportunity to rethink how we rebuild. There is no question that global temperatures are rising, and that the consequences of that affect both ourselves in healthcare, and also the wellbeing of our patients. Whether it be by the effects of drought or floods on supplies of food and water, the quality of the air we breathe and its effect on respiratory disease, or the spread of infection we know, we must take urgent action.
